Terms & Conditions

The following document outlines the important terms and conditions that apply to your use of our services. While it may not be the most riveting read, it is essential to understand these guidelines.

B&Q. B&Q shall not assume any proprietary rights or liability for the products at any stage of the marketing, sale, and delivery process. It is important to note that all consumer contracts made through the website are between you and California Blinds (or its Affiliates) acting independently and not on behalf of B&Q.

1. Product Definitions

For the purpose of these terms, products refer to all items sold by California Blinds. This includes but is not limited to roller blinds, vertical blinds, roman blinds, wooden Venetian blinds, aluminium Venetian blinds, and any other products available on this website.

2. Finalizing Order Sizes

All blinds are custom-made to your exact specifications as entered on the website. California Blinds cannot be held responsible for any inaccuracies or issues that may arise due to incorrect measurements provided by the customer. We urge each customer to double-check all measurements before placing an order. Once the blinds are made, they are non-refundable due to their custom nature. Our customer services team will always confirm the order details with you. It is important to note that we do not accept claims based on incorrect sizes or products entered by us in the case of telephone orders. Please review the order details in the email confirmation and inform us of any necessary alterations within 24 hours of placing your order, or before production begins. If you do not receive the email confirmation, please check your spam or junk folder. If it is still not received, contact us within 24 hours of placing your order. Failure to notify us of any issues with your order sizes when you haven't received the confirmation will release us from liability. Refunds and cancellations are only possible before production begins. Additionally, please ensure you verify the color and fabric selection before placing your order. California Blinds cannot be held responsible for mistakes in fabric choice or color. If you have any doubts, we recommend ordering free samples or contacting us before finalizing your order. Once your order is manufactured, we cannot exchange it for a different product due to the made-to-measure nature of our blinds.

3. Product Tolerance

Although our blinds are made to measure, there is a tolerance of +/- 3mm on all exact size, fabric width, and recess size orders. While our skilled professionals strive for accuracy, this tolerance is necessary due to the machinery and blades used in cutting fabrics and wooden slats. We will make every effort to ensure the blind is slightly smaller than ordered, but it cannot always be guaranteed. If the blind falls within the correct size and tolerance, we cannot replace it or accept returns. Wooden blinds may have chips on the end of the slats, which is inherent to the cutting process. Visible chips under 1mm and blemishes under 1mm are considered within tolerance. However, we will assess each case individually to address any issues with your order. Venetian blinds, both wooden and faux wood, may occasionally have scratches on the face of the headrail, which are also within tolerance as the headrail is designed to be concealed by the valance provided. Roller blinds and Roman blinds above a certain size will require a join. If you are installing two blinds together, and both require a join, please inform us after placing your order so that we can align the join in the fabric. By default, fabric joins may not align perfectly. Please be aware that there may be a variance between fabric batches, although we strive to use the same batch for each order.

Perfect Fit brackets come in the following depths: 18mm, 20mm, 22mm, 24mm, 30mm and 38mm. 

The 38mm brackets are only available in white or unpainted (silver). When ordering, please select the appropriate bracket range. Please note that due to the variety of brackets available, there may be cases where the frame does not fit flush with the window surround. Perfect Fit frames may have minor paint blemishes as a result of the manufacturing process.

4. Prices & Delivery Purchase

All prices displayed online are accurate at the time of ordering and include VAT. Orders will not be initiated until payment has been made in full. Delivery to certain areas of the UK, such as Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands, may incur additional fees. These fees will be presented to you before making a purchase, ensuring that all delivery options are transparent. California Blinds accepts debit and credit cards, as well as PayPal payments. Orders above £179 qualify for free delivery, while shipping on orders below £179 incurs a £7.99 fee. Please note that we do not ship to overseas locations. However, we can ship to freight forwarders within the UK. Please be aware that removing the blinds from the UK without prior inspection by you will void the warranty, and any repairs or replacements will be at your expense.

5. Payment and Cancellation Terms

Payment can be made using debit cards, credit cards, or PayPal. We store all personal data in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We do not store credit card details and use third-party merchant providers for payment processing. By purchasing blinds from California Blinds, you enter into a legally binding contract with us. Cancellations are possible if your order has not yet entered the production stage, as all blinds are custom-made according to your specifications. Please contact us at 0117 4630 327 as soon as possible to cancel the order. If your order has not been started, a refund will be processed. Please allow up to 10 business days for the refund to appear on your statement after it has been processed by California Blinds.

6. Delivery

California Blinds will deliver your order to the designated delivery address provided during the ordering process. The approximate delivery dates for all products are indicated, with blinds typically delivered within 8-10 working days, and wooden and faux wood blinds within 15-20 working days. Any changes to the delivery address must be communicated by phone at 0117 4630 327, and such changes can be made up to 24 hours before dispatch. As all products are custom-made, the estimated delivery date provided during the order placement is subject to change due to factors beyond our control. California Blinds cannot be held liable for any loss or damage incurred if we fail to meet the initial delivery target. We will make every effort to keep you updated on any delays, should they occur. Any delays or damages caused by the chosen courier company are the responsibility of the courier and do not reflect on California Blinds. If there is any damage to the blind upon delivery, please contact us at 0117 4630 327. We offer free delivery to Northern Ireland, Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, and the Scottish Highlands. 6.1 Next Day Delivery

California Blinds offers next day delivery for specific products on our website, which are indicated by the 'Next Day Delivery' icon displayed on the product image and at the checkout. To avail this service, simply place your order with us before 10:30am, and we guarantee to dispatch the blinds on the same day for delivery on the following day. Orders placed after 10:30am will be dispatched on the next working day. In the event that we are unable to dispatch your blinds on the same day, we will contact you via email to provide an update on the expected dispatch date. Please note that a signature is required upon delivery, and an attempted delivery on the specified delivery date fulfills our next day delivery terms. However, next day delivery is not guaranteed if unforeseen events beyond our control, such as snowstorms or acts of God, prevent the timely delivery of the blinds. It is important to note that if you reside in the Scottish Highlands or Northern Ireland, next day delivery is not possible; however, the delivery time will still be expedited compared to standard delivery due to logistical considerations.

7. Defective, Damaged Goods, Returns, and Remakes

Every California Blinds order undergoes thorough quality control checks throughout the manufacturing process to ensure no faults occur. If you discover any defects or issues with your order, please contact us via email or phone within 7 days of receiving it, and we will arrange for a resolution. We may require images of the defective blinds for quality control purposes. Altering the blinds in any way will void the warranty. You have 7 days from receipt of your order to notify us of any defects, damages, or manufacturing faults. If the order arrives damaged from the courier, please mark it as damaged on the delivery note when signing for it. Each case will be individually assessed to address any issues with your order. Due to the made-to-measure nature of our blinds, they cannot be returned and are exempt from the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2014. In the event that a blind needs to be remade due to a manufacturing error, fabric damage, or transit damage, it will be remade to the exact same specifications as the original order. California Blinds may request photos or collect the blind for inspection before offering a resolution. Please note that the collection and inspection process can take up to 10 working days. As an online retailer, we are unable to send anyone to inspect or repair your blinds. Alterations cannot be made to the original order, and replacements are like-for-like. California Blinds will not cover or contribute to the cost of installing our products personally or through a third-party contractor. If there are any production issues with our products, we will remake and dispatch them as soon as possible.

Return costs are the customer's responsibility, and it is essential to ensure that the returned goods arrive safely, well packaged, and in a resalable condition. In the event of loss or damage during transit, it is the customer's responsibility to claim compensation from the relevant courier company.

8. Guarantee

California Blinds provides a 5-year guarantee on all blinds. The first 12 months of the guarantee cover any defects or manufacturing issues, including fabrics and components. Afterward, a limited guarantee applies to the blinds and components. The warranty does not cover fading, tears, or damage to the fabric caused by sunlight or normal wear and tear. It also does not cover damage resulting from misuse or mishandling of the blinds or damage due to incorrect installation. California Blinds reserves the right to request photos or the return of the blind for inspection before offering a replacement, repair, or refund. This guarantee does not affect your statutory rights.

9. GDPR

California Blinds complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) regarding the storage of personal data. We have a separate Privacy Policy that can be viewed for more information. We do not share your details with any third parties for marketing purposes. However, we may need to share your data with selected and approved third parties involved in completing your transaction, such as our manufacturing factories and courier firms. You can request a copy of the data we hold about you by phone or email, and you can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time.

10. Other

California Blinds reserves the right to cancel and refund your order under certain circumstances. These include if the fabric is discontinued without our knowledge, if there is a pricing error on the website resulting in the product being sold below retail price, if you have ordered from outside our delivery areas, or if we have insufficient stock to fulfill your order. In such cases, we will contact you to inform you of the issue. If, for any reason beyond our reasonable control, we are unable to supply a particular item, we will notify you as soon as possible. No discounts or compensation can be offered under these unforeseen circumstances. California Blinds operates as the trading name of California Blinds Limited, a registered company with the number 09680083. Personal information will not be shared with third parties, and California Blinds will only contact you with offers and newsletters if you have given your consent. You can unsubscribe from all emails at any time. All data collected about you will be held in compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998.

The Company shall not be liable to the Customer for any indirect, direct, consequential, or special loss, damage, failure of service, or injury, whether foreseeable or not, to the Customer or the Customer's property, arising from the purchase, use, or resale of the Goods or any breach of contract, negligence, or breach of duty by the Company. Specifically, the Company shall not be liable for financial loss, loss of profits, loss of business or contracts, loss of operating time, or loss of use or liability to third parties.

Under no circumstances whatsoever shall the Company be liable for any direct or indirect loss or damage caused by or arising out of the supply and/or use of any goods supplied by the Company, or caused by or arising out of any defect or failure in such Goods.

The Customer shall fully indemnify the Company against all costs, losses, expenses, and damages suffered or incurred by or awarded against the Company in respect of such claims. The Company shall not be liable, whether under contract, tort, or otherwise, for defects in the Goods or failure to correspond to specifications or samples, or for any injury, damage, or loss resulting from such defects or from any installation, repair, or work done in connection therewith.

11. Discounts and Promotions

California Blinds regularly offers time-sensitive promotions on specific products in our catalog. These promotions have an expiration date and will end at midnight on the final day of the promotion. For example, if an offer runs for a month, it will expire at 00:01 on the first day of the following month. Similarly, if there is an offer running on a Friday, it will expire at 00:01 on Saturday morning. Our promotions may require the use of a discount code, which should be applied to your basket on the 'Order Confirmation' page. Alternatively, some promotions may automatically apply the discount to the relevant product. Please ensure that the expected discount has been properly applied before completing your purchase. Our promotional materials will provide detailed instructions on how to claim the discount. We are unable to apply discount codes retrospectively or extend the offer beyond the advertised promotion period. It is important to note that discount codes may not be valid for all product ranges and could be specific to certain products. Social media prizes can be redeemed within 12 months of winning, unless otherwise stated at the time of the giveaway. California Blinds does not allow for double discounting, so discount codes will not work on products that are already discounted on our site.

Please be aware that discount codes will not work on certain products, including PerfectFit, conservatory blinds, skylight blinds, and aluminum Venetian blind products, whether they are previously discounted or currently on sale. Regular delivery charges still apply unless we are running a free shipping offer. Orders over £179 qualify for free shipping. Our offers cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or discount. Discount codes cannot be applied to products that are already discounted on the website. California Blinds periodically offers discounts on selected products, which are indicated by the discount 'sticker' on the product image. The discount will be reflected in the price once you enter your measurements, as it is automatically applied.

12. MeasureSure Cover

MeasureSure Cover is an optional mismeasurement policy that can be added to your order for an additional £9.99 at the checkout. This insurance policy provides coverage against incorrectly measured blinds within your order.

Please note the following details about MeasureSure Cover:

- MeasureSure Cover is only available for made-to-measure blinds. Ready-made blinds are not eligible for this coverage.
- If there is an issue with the size of your blinds, you must notify us within 14 days of delivery.
- The replacement blind must have exactly the same controls, fabric, and blind style. The only permissible change is in the width and drop measurements.
- If the cost of the replacement blind is higher than the original size ordered, you will be responsible for paying the price difference.
- MeasureSure Cover is not available for trade customers or wholesale orders.
- In cases where the new measurements are smaller than the original measurements, we will attempt to amend the item rather than manufacturing a completely new blind.
- If you activate the MeasureSure Cover, you will be liable to pay the delivery charge for the new order, which is £7.99.

13. Klarna Finance

In partnership with Klarna Bank AB (publ), located at Sveavägen 46, 111 34 Stockholm, Sweden, we offer the following payment options. Payments should be made to Klarna. Klarna Bank AB (publ)is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and acts as a credit intermediary and not a lender, offering credit products provided exclusively by Klarna Bank AB (publ) by a limited number of finance providers, including Klarna Bank AB (publ). Please note that Pay in 3 instalments and Pay in 30 days agreements are not regulated by the FCA. 14. Priority & Next Day Orders

We provide a next day or priority shipment option for selected products at California Blinds. These products are indicated with 'Priority Dispatch' or 'Next Day' stickers. Additionally, the product page displays delivery times with a countdown timer until the next cutoff and an estimated delivery date.

Here are some important details regarding priority and next day orders:

- Priority blinds ordered before 10am are manufactured in the afternoon and dispatched either on the same evening or the following morning, depending on the size, postcode, and courier.
- They are shipped on a next day service with courier options such as XDP, DX, or DPD.
- Please be aware that delays caused by the couriers are beyond our control. Once the blinds are dispatched on the same or next working day, California Blinds has fulfilled its 'Priority Dispatch' contract with the customer.
- We cannot offer compensation for courier delays as they are outside of our control. This service is provided at no extra charge.

Due to the quick manufacturing process and prompt dispatch, we are unable to make amendments to orders for priority dispatch blinds once they have been placed. Priority dispatch blinds are excluded from our standard 24-hour amendment window.
